We are making a transition from paper homework to digital homework. Students will have their homework assigned to them through Study Island and will be able to complete it at home. I will continue to pull two assignments in reading and math every week and grade them, but now you will be able to see the results immediately. I highly encourage families to work with their children on their homework and discuss their results. The app does require the internet, but I will provide paper copies to any families who will need them.
Almost There - 9/17
So close! Our students almost made it to our goal of an 85% average for our reading and math unit tests. We missed it by 1% in reading, but we won't lose heart! Our next unit test is three weeks away and we'll work harder so we can meet our goal. When the class meets the goal given to them, they will be able to help Mr. Schreyer with the ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE!
App Explosion - 8/20
Students have recently big given several new apps. I would encourage families to explore these apps with their children and have them explain how the app works. The use of these apps will be used in class and for challenges at home. If there are any questions or concerns about these, please feel free to contact me!
Reminder About Snacks - 8/20
Snack time is a crucial part of our day. Please continue to send your child with a snack, so that they have the energy needed to have a great school day. Also, thank you to the families who have contributed snacks to the classroom. You are incredible and our students have greatly appreciated it.
iPads, Snacks, and Headphones - 8/12
-Thank you for the overwhelming turn out Thursday night. If you attended the meeting or received a call from me, your student will be ready to take their iPad home Monday night (8/15). -Please make sure students have headphones, as we use many apps that include videos and need sound. -The morning can be quite long. Please provide your student with a snack to help get them through the day.
Thank you for everything you do!
What a week! - 8/12
One week of school is down and students have been doing a fantastic job in the classroom. We have been using technology to blog and create academic videos for class. However, the largest accomplishment has been seeing our students take the initiative to help three different second grade classes with their iPads! Next week holds more challenges, but also greater opportunity. I can't wait to see what we accomplish next!
First Week - 8/1
Just a couple of reminders: - Our first day of school is August 9th and I couldn't be more thrilled to meet everyone. - I'll be having a parent meeting on August 11th in the library. We'll talk about classroom procedures, taking iPads home, and the year ahead! - Finally, we use videos for many lessons in our classroom. Students will have a better experience if they are able to have headphones.
